An MPPT solar charge controller is a good option for managing solar energy and transforming it into a clean and sustainable charge for your battery.
Have you ever wanted to see and control the status of your MPPT charge controller? Now you can, thanks to Victron Energy’s new MPPT Control.
MPPT Control lets you see the status and set up all MPPTs that use a VE direct communications port. The new MPPT Control is mounted in the BMV-700 series housing, maintaining a consistent and professional look for your panels and systems monitoring equipment. Keep reading to learn more about the MPPT Control.
What Does MPPT Mean?
MPPT stands for Maximum Power Point Tracking. This means that the charge controller monitors the solar panel and determines the maximum power point voltage for the current conditions. By doing so, this DC-DC converter maximizes the efficiency of a solar panel system. MPPT solar charge controllers are recommended for use on high-energy panels, usually when you have two or more panels in your array.
MPPT Control from Victron Energy
The MPPT Control shows the nine most important values of the MPPT Solar charge controller, such as:
- Solar Panel Power
- Today’s Yield
- Voltages and Currents
- Charge State
- Load State
Other information, such as the historical values of the MPPT, can be accessed by pressing ‘select.’ All-time values like ‘total yield’ and other valuable information such as ‘maximum solar panel voltage’ and ‘maximum & minimum battery voltage’ can also be viewed, as well as the last four errors.
The MPPT Control allows you to select and view all stored information from your MPPT. The 30-day history also shows important information about the length of charge stages during a specific day. The user can gain considerable insight into their system with such extensive information.
Setting Up the MPPT Control
Setting up an MPPT Solar charge controller has never been easier, as a PC is no longer required—if you have an MPPT Control. When the setup menu is accessed, you can set up the MPPT Solar charge controller, adapting its configuration to your battery voltage and type. It’s easy to reset factory defaults at any time.
If the MPPT Control is connected to an MPPT that shuts down at night, it can be connected to a battery using the supplied cable. This way, the MPPT Control stays powered while the MPPT is off, and the last received status, history, and settings of the MPPT can be viewed.
